UFC (Macau) Fight Night 248: Yan vs. Figueiredo – The Breakdown You Need

What's good UFC fans, set your alarms early Saturday morning or don't go to sleep at all because UFC Fight Night 248 is about to be one of those sneaky good cards that's forgotten about due to UFC 309 hangover and good ol' college football. Two former champs, Petr Yan and Deiveson Figueiredo, are throwing down in the main event, and trust me, this one’s got “fight of the year” written all over it. Let’s dive in and break it all down.

The Main Event: Yan vs. Figueiredo

We’ve got Petr Yan, the former king of the bantamweights, taking on Deiveson Figueiredo, the former flyweight champ whose on a roll in his new division. This isn’t just a fight; it’s a statement to being in the number one contender conversation

Yan? Dude’s a striking machine. He’s got sniper-level precision with his hands, footwork that makes even the best look slow, and a gas tank for days. Sure, he’s had a rough patch lately—Aljo edged him out, and O’Malley walked away with a questionable win—but don’t sleep on him. When Yan is locked in, he’s a problem.

Now, Figueiredo? He’s the definition of chaos. Power, submissions, pure aggression—“Deus da Guerra” doesn’t just fight; he hunts. Dare I say Figueiredo looks better at 135 compared to 125?

This fight’s going to be a chess match of violence. LET'S GO!!!!!!!

Co-Main: Xiaonan Yan vs. Tabatha Ricci

In the co-main, we’ve got two strawweights who are looking to steal the show: Xiaonan Yan and Tabatha Ricci. Yan suffered a defeat her last time out to fellow countrymen, Weili Zhang. She showed real heart and I believe she will be fighting for the strap again in no time.

But Ricci? Forget about it!!!!!!!! Big time. Winner of four out of her last five fights including Gillian Robertson who scored an impressive victory earlier this month and the ever game Angela Hill.

Expect a great fight.

Don’t Sleep on These Fights

1. Volkan Oezdemir vs. Carlos Ulberg (Light Heavyweight)

2. Long Xiao vs. Le Quang (Bantamweight)

3. Jieleyisi Baergeng vs. You Suyoung (Bantamweight)

Keys to the Main Event

For Yan:

• Keep the jab working. It’s the best way to keep Figgy off balance.

• Pick up the pace late. Figgy’s cardio isn’t invincible.

• Shut down the takedowns. Force Figgy to trade.

For Figueiredo:

• Go big early. His power is his best weapon, so he needs to use it fast.

• Chop the legs. Slow Yan down and mess up his rhythm.

• Mix it up. Make Yan respect the threat of the takedown.

UFC Fight Night 248 isn’t just a fight card; it’s a statement. The bantamweight division gets a shake-up, the light heavyweight contenders are coming in hot, and every fight has the potential to be a showstopper.

Wake up early. This one’s going to be wild. Keep training family. Oss.
