What's good family. 10 Johnny Walker's neat + 2 energy drinks later and we made it! Macau was on fire this past weekend as the UFC made its triumphant return to China on November 23, 2024. The card was stacked, the energy was electric, and the fighters delivered big time. Here’s the lowdown from a night of absolute carnage.
Main Event: Petr Yan Gets It Done
Petr “No Mercy” Yan showed why he’s still a problem in the bantamweight division, outworking Deiveson Figueiredo in a battle that lived up to the hype. Yan’s precision and relentless pressure were too much, earning him a unanimous decision win. Figueiredo had his moments, especially later in the fight but Yan stayed icy under pressure, securing the dub. Honestly between Umar and Petr, Merab has two formidable opponents for his next title defense
Co-Main: Yan Xiaoanon is HER!
Coming off a loss for the Strawweight title in her last fight, Yan came out determined and scored a unanimous decision win over Tabatha "Baby Shark" Ricci. Yan who was a fan favorite of the hometown crowd put on a performance that warrants a rematch with Weili Zhang in the near future
Road to UFC: History and Dominance
The night also wrapped up the Road to UFC tournaments, and the new talent did not disappoint:
• Shi Ming, the doctor-turned-kick-you-in-the-head queen, made history with a jaw-dropping head-kick KO. She’s the first female Road to UFC champ and officially UFC-bound. Prayers to Feng Xiacan. We hope she has a speedy recovery.
• SuYoung You brought the grind, controlling the bantamweight final with slick striking and ground game to take home a unanimous decision victory against Jieleyisi Baergeng.
The Rest of the Chaos
• Mingyang Zhang enogh said.. Give my man a ranked match up
The Takeaway
UFC Macau showed exactly why MMA is the world’s fastest-growing sport. From Yan’s masterclass to breakout performances like Shi Ming’s, the night was packed with moments that remind us why we love this game. If this is the future of UFC in Asia, sign us all the way up. Oss.
